CG CONSULTING, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE (NFL) LAUNCHED THE FIRST EVER MEDIA SCHOLARS PROGRAM FOR SUPER BOWL LIX
“It is not a lack of talent, our students have tremendous talent. It is the ability to “get into the room”. You cannot be what you cannot see. This is why we started building out a program, to give students a chance to learn from each other, highlight their skillset, connect with media professionals, and create a portfolio that will make them competitive in the workforce.”

key components
The Media Scholars Program, founded and led by Dr. Chantelle George, is transforming the sports media industry by offering underestimated students a rare opportunity to be immersed in sports and entertainment operations.
From shadowing media professionals to working behind the scenes at NFL-sponsored events, these students gained exclusive access and industry insights during Super Bowl LIX week and beyond.
This program is built on four key components:
-
The mission of this program is to provide access and exposure to college students who are aspiring to be media professionals.
Scholars attend orientation with clear expectations, trained in ways to approach people, social media etiquette, and meet deadlines to put together deliverables
Scholars get access to interview professionals and athletes during their college experience to create content and build their professional portfolio
-
The program facilitates connections with national media partners, fostering professional relationships and future career opportunities.
Scholars are identifying new connections and professionals they want to have as mentors
Scholars are connected to each other and CGC staff, via group chat for continued support
-
We've partnered with higher education leaders, NABJ, the Saints organization, and other key stakeholders to ensure the program is student-centered and community-driven.
-
Scholars are placed in smaller, discipline-focused groups led by a staff mentor, fostering peer learning and professional guidance.
Scholars were encouraged to pair up based on their skill sets to maximize content creation
Scholars promoted each other on social media, collaborating on content, increasing exposure
Scholars were placed in a cohort by expertise (videography/film, photography, broadcast journalism, and content creation
Scholars are now the first alumni group who will continue getting access to opportunities and professional development leading up to graduation
