Partnership and Youth Program Development

The Need

To build a summer engagement experience that included strategic partnerships that would result in students’ exposure to resources and key influencers in the community

Project Overview

CG Consulting created and executed the summer engagement partnership program for over 50 high school students from Louisiana who were a part of the Upward Bound program. We created programming, connected with key community stakeholders in the city, and built strategic partnerships to expose students to resources and key influencers in the community.

CG Consulting Insight and Approach

  • Tutoring was offered weekly in person at convenient locations and online. Tutoring sessions aim to improve the students’ GPAs, prepare them for the “End of Course Assessment,” increase SAT readiness, and enhance study skills.

  • Monthly programming that works to augment and support high school instruction provides opportunities for career exploration and successful skills development.

  • Individual sessions and group workshops are designed to focus on each student’s academic progress and develop his or her post-secondary options.

  • Students travel to local, state, and regional colleges and universities to gain exposure which will assist with the college selection process.

  • Students are treated to field trips such as visits to museums, theatre productions, and talks given by nationally known speakers.

  • Students have the opportunity to participate in various leadership seminars.

Impact and Results

CG Consulting created over 10 community partnerships for the IMPACT TRIO organization that allowed students access to resources and experiential learning around college tours, internship opportunities, career pathways, and civic opportunities post-high school. CG Consulting created memorandum of understanding (MOUs) templates between the TRIO organization and these community organizations, allowing for a full year of contractual agreements.

Educational Advising and Initiatives

The Need

Since the pandemic, state-level practitioners have been trying to determine the most essential postsecondary strategies to improve young and adult learners' enrollment, persistence, and completion. Now that the landscape has changed and many students are either behind or unaccounted for, states will need to shift their focus on policies and programming that can get them back on track to meet their ambitious goals.

Project Overview

CG Consulting was contracted to support ACT and ACAC in understanding the current landscape in Louisiana and other states and building a 50-state report that included key information and strategies for improving the future of young people across the nation. CG Consulting was the project lead responsible for connecting with executive leaders across all states to research, conduct interviews, and advise on all management capacities.

CG Consulting Insight and Approach

  • Collaborating with institutions, K-12 districts, workforce development entities, and foundations

  • Completing a landscape analysis of the targeted communities

  • Engaging with community and education leaders from various states

  • Partnering with funders to ensure efficient progress monitoring, project management, and reporting

  • Completing necessary communication and marketing blogs for external audiences

Impact and Results

  • The 50-state analysis report, commissioned by American (ACAC) and produced by ACT and San Diego State University, is based on an in-depth national scan of state-by-state practices and policies and dozens of student and expert interviews.

  • The resulting analysis shows the percentage of states that have identified college and career funding as an important component of post-COVID student’s postsecondary education. The analysis identified states that measure and support the quality of these practices by collecting data,  including in accountability plans, or having a strong ecosystem of organizations supporting the work.

Testimonial

“Over the last six months, my team has collaborated with Chantelle George to develop and launch the McCollum Scholars Program, a comprehensive scholarship that will provide resources to a cohort of 11 students to embark on their college journeys, including up to $80k in scholarship money for each student. The scholarship program, developed alongside my client, New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum, has been a dream project for our team, and Chantelle has been a dream partner in this work. Her commitment to excellence, strong expertise, and demonstrated ability to collaborate with a high-profile athlete and a fast-moving team to get this project off the ground was laudable. Further, there was no task too big or too small for Chantelle - she was committed to making things happen, whether that required weekend texts or collaborating well into the holiday season - Chantelle was committed to getting things done because this work is important to her. We’re excited to continue our work with Chantelle and would gladly recommend her for future opportunities.”
